Jordan Peele's latest cosmic thriller has some familiar faces that have appeared in Dexter, American Horror Story, Rick and Morty, and Lightyear.

Jordan Peele has returned in his third directorial effort with another cryptic thriller film, Nope and there's already a lot to like about it. His debut, Get Out, won Oscar awards and rejuvenated the horror genre with fresh social commentary and chilling plot twists. Nope will likely do the same, with a bent towards the beyond as the film looks part alien thriller, part hometown hero story.

Peele recruits a star-studded cast not unfamiliar with the big screen. Keke Palmer, Academy Award-winner Daniel Kaluuya, Steven Yeun, and others are expected to deliver cosmic performances in what could be the year's best horror film. They all have impressive careers so far.

Keith David has made appearances in movies and television for the last couple of decades, one of his latest voicing the President of the United States in Rick and Morty. As the President, David voiced a character at odds with Rick and Morty at nearly every moment.

His character produced some of the funniest and most action-filled moments on the show—the best being a drawn-out battle in the White House, full of secret weaponry throughout the building and Rick's own genius inventions at the ready.

Wrenn Schmidt has had an impressive career, putting great names in her filmography such as Outcast and Boardwalk Empire. Her most recent performance has been in Apple TV+ original series, For All Mankind.

The show is set in an alternate reality where the Soviet Union wins the race to the moon, extending the Space Race for decades. Schmidt plays Margo Madison, a NASA engineer and central proponent of their attempted missions into space. As Margo, Schmidt is a tenacious and often charismatic addition to the show, reliable support to a creative story.

He may not be known for massive roles in his acting career, but Mark Casimir Dyniewicz Jr. has played supporting roles in many popular TV series. As an extra in shows like NCIS, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Westworld, Dyniewicz Jr. is a trustworthy and convincing actor.

Getting his biggest break in American Horror Story, he played an asylum patient in many episodes of the second season: Asylum. Providing support as a patient in the best season of American Horror Story is an accomplishment in itself, and Nope might be another big break for the Illinois-born actor.

Brandon Perea has made strides in his acting career, appearing in 2021's American Insurrection and, most notably, as Alfonso 'French' Sosa in The OA. The show has many confusing storylines, including a very meta ending involving the characters entering their own TV-cast realities.

In its short, two-season run before it was canceled by Netflix, Perea played one of the five characters intertwined in Prairie's ever-changing story. Though his tenure was short-lived (only 12 episodes), he may offer strong support in Jordan Peele's third blockbuster hit.

24: Live Another Day was released as an extension of the popular drama series, 24, in 2014. Michael Wincott, who plays Antlers in Nope, played Adrian Cross in the drama miniseries. As a skilled hacker and founder of Open Cell, Cross shows that Michael Wincott can play the antagonist well.

The show, which features one of the best TV show spies, is well-balanced by Wincott's antagonistic portrayal of a hacker with a dream: open-sourced, free information. Perhaps his role in Nope might follow a darker bent. Nevertheless, he will likely give a stunning performance.

Pixar's Lightyear might be one of the biggest box office flops of 2022, but that does not diminish Keke Palmer's voice performance as Hawthorne, the movie's most notable supporting character. People might think it would be hard for Palmer to escape the shadow of Chris Evans (who voices Buzz Lightyear), but she voices a startling role, making the story all the more layered and enthralling.

Keke Palmer's performance in Nope will likely be stellar, as she plays one of the main protagonists, Emerald Haywood. Even from the trailers, fans have seen a glimpse of Palmer and Kaluuya's chemistry on-screen, proving that the film has much to offer and her performance is sure to be great.

One of Daniel Kaluuya's best—and most powerful—roles was in 2021's Judas and the Black Messiah, directed by Shaka King. The movie (based on true events) is an emotional, intense, and rigorous depiction of the Black Panther Party in the late 1960s.

Kaluuya delivers a passionate, Academy Award winning performance as Fred Hampton, the Black Panthers' fearless leader. The movie stretches him, requiring emotional and brave portrayals of fighting for freedom, love, and the loss of it. He will undoubtedly shine as OJ Haywood in his second Peele film.

Longtime fans of The Walking Dead will notice a familiar face in Steven Yeun, who plays Ricky 'Jupe' Park in Nope. Long before his role in the upcoming film, he became a staple of one of the best zombie shows as Glenn.

Since then, he has also played great roles such as Richard in A24's The Humans. Richard is the boyfriend of Bridgid Blake, accompanying her to a family Thanksgiving Dinner. The film is packed with drama, intending to depict a high-strung American Thanksgiving. Yeun adds to this drama well, proving that there are no weak links in the small cast of this film.

Barbie Ferreira's most electric performance has surely come in the fairly new HBO series, Euphoria. As Kat, the show's fashion icon, Ferreira shines as a dramatic and becoming character. Though Euphoria's second season didn't treat her character well, Ferreira played Kat with passion to the end.

Ferreira is set to play Nessie in Nope, and fans should expect a much different side of her. The differences could not be more stark than between a high school drama and an alien thriller, but Ferreira will fit right in, adding to the spectacle of Nope.

In the earlier seasons of Dexter, Michael C. Hall portrayed his own teenage Dexter by wearing a wig (that didn't convince many viewers he was younger). After the show-runners realized their mistake, they brought Devon Graye in to play teenage Dexter.

All grown up, Graye, has inconsistently appeared in shows like PEN15 and The Flash but has now landed a role as Ryder in Nope. While little is known about his character and screen-time before the movie's release, this role could be a big break for him to get more time in the spotlight.
